EducatorArts in EducationLauren is a professional vocalist, pianist and educator with a degree in Music Education from Farleigh Dickinson University. Formerly a music teacher at the acclaimed Bank Street School for Children in Manhattan, the Montessori Children's House in Morristown and the Neighborhood School in Manhattan, she is currently developing the Music Program at The Hamilton Park Montessori School in Jersey City and teaches privately in her home in Teaneck. One of the co-founders of the former, award winning Teaneck Cultural Arts Coalition: "bringing people together by celebrating cultural diversity through the arts", Lauren presently sits on the Advisory Board for the Puffin Cultural Forum, a project of the Puffin Foundation, Ltd., and serves as the Production Manager and Grants Coordinator for the Teaneck Community Chorus. She regularly performs in her Arts in Education company: Musical Legends www.musicallegends.biz which offers interactive, multicultural musical theater to children K-6 at theaters, schools and festivals. In addition to Native American and African based programs, she performs a “Jazz for Kids” show as well as an Improvisational Jazz Experience: “Paint the Music”- linking visual art with music.

Jazz Vocal WorkshopsLegendary jazz musician Miles Davis once said "There are no mistakes in jazz - only opportunities." Jazz is the ultimate form of self expression - developing and celebrating one‚s individuality - "mistakes" and all. Through listening to recordings and actively participating in individual and group singing, small hand percussion ensembles and movement we will explore the African roots of jazz, the 12 Bar Blues idiom, swing, bee-bop and modern jazz styles through call and response - scat singing - improvisation and composing our own "sad" and "happy" blues - rejoicing in this true American Art Form we call JAZZ!
